Is there any reason why this would not work?Īlso, it would nice to switch between SD kits without fumbling around with the laptop.

From there, I can route it to the master out (to the FOH), route it to my monitoring, and also mix the monitor feed from the rest of the band coming back. I route the stereo bus from SD to the TD, via USB. The FOH desk will be set up with a clear stereo channel (for once the sound guy would have to trust me). I plan to build my kits in SD, EQ’d and processed for live, and route it out on a stereo bus. The previous topic gave good information on audio interfaces, but I already had an idea on another possible solution, which I hope you guys could give an opinion on. It’s going to cost in the order of £1,500 (ouch), but there’s not much worse than playing and not getting to sound you want. My problem is, the stock sounds in my Roland TD 50 are just not doing it for me, and I’m looking at SD3 running alongside for live work. It’s great to see such good and knowledgeable advice! Hopefully someone else can help with some of your other questions.I came to this forum as a result of a previous similar topic.

If you wanted to try SSD to see if you like it, you can buy the download version of EX for just $79.00 at audiomidi

Included with Platinum and EX is Kontact (which is required) or you can download the latest free version from NI (or buy the full version). All EX Expansions work with either platinum or EX. Hows it all work its got me a bit confused but I am defo going to buy some of there ear it looks totaly awesome :Dįiguring out what is needed can be difficult can't it?Īs I said earlier, I don't use SSD so I might get corrected, but I believe SSD comes in two flavors.ġ: SSD Platinum (which includes 40 + kits)ĮX if the same full working version as Platinum, just with fewer kits. What about the Ex exspansions are they only for the EX version Sorry another question I was going to ask was what is the difference between the EX and the SSD ?ĭo you need one to run the other or are they tottaly different programs ? Thanks for all the help guys I have also asked this over on the ToonTrack Site and Contacted Steven Slate to ask them. If you Create a groove in Steven slate then use the groove in SD2 do you have to re map the kit or anything to make it sound right for instance will it know that the hats were played open or shut etc ? That a snare was hit a kick or a tom etc? Maybe you could please help and test for me ozz ? Steven Slate is aparently plug and play for useing with Roland Vdrums So I was hopeing to maybe Record my parts useing Steven slate and my TD-20 then use the recorded midi in SD2 to trigger its sounds but I dont know if that would work out ? I do love the sounds in SD2 though so dont want to walk away from useing it tottaly I normaly play my grooves in SD2 metal foundry then bus them out to sonar for mixing rather than mixing in SD2 I just dont like it for mixing. ( its like night and Day compared to cakewalks tec support there fantastic and I cant prase them enough! ) The other thing I have found is that Toontracks Suppport is horrible ! Very unhelpfull and in some posts I have had back from there Specialist he was nothing but Patroniseing and made me feel like crap when all I was looking for was a little bit of help. The reason I am thinking of usgin Steven Slate is becasue I am finding that integration between SD2 and My roland TD-20 sucks! big time ! No matter what I do something always goes wrong normaly todo with the Dynamics of soft and hard hits it plays nthing like a real kit would its like it has hard hits r harder hits so not good for playing songs with rolls that go from soft to hard ( unless you want to edit hell out of them afterwards in PRV) Whats the Difference between the full Steven slate drums and the EX ? SOrry I have no Idea what the difference is.
